Kranthi (2023)

 

Kranti (2023) is a Kannada-language action drama film written and directed by V. Harikrishna. Produced by B. Suresha and Shylaja Nag, under Media House Studio, it stars Darshan Thoogudeepa and Rachita Ram in lead roles alongside Ravichandran. The music of the film is composed by V. Harikrishna.

The film tells the story of Kranti Rayanna (Darshan), an NRI business magnate, who is called by his master Srikantaiah to attend the 100th celebration of the government school; he studied in his childhood. Kranti returns home from Europe, where he meets a school teacher named Sadashivayya. Sadashivayya reveals to Kranti that his school along with various other 12,000 government schools are in trouble with Salatri, a shrewd businessman, who wants to privatize the government schools by issuing government order with the help of corrupt Education minister Vaman Rao, and Narasappa, a gangster.

Kranti decides to fight against Salatri and his group. He becomes a vigilante and starts a movement to save the government schools. The film explores the themes of corruption, education, and revolution.

Kranti was released on 26 January 2023, coinciding with the Indian Republic Day holiday. The film was a commercial success, grossing over ₹33 crore (US$4.1 million) at the box office. It received positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances of Darshan and Ravichandran, the direction of V. Harikrishna, and the film's message.
